About

Samantha Todhunter Design creates interiors defined by an easy, modern dynamic. Each project is suffused with a relaxed glamour, layering luxurious, laid back chic with traditional flourishes. The result strikes a confident balance between relaxed, informal and deeply personal spaces, elevated with considered touches of polish, a little wit and a timeless sense of proportion. This nuanced combination underpins the studio’s distinctive signature.

London based and globally aware, the firm undertakes projects of all scales, from a simple decorative refresh to complete interior overhauls and historic restorations. Its portfolio moves seamlessly between town and country, with recent work including the refurbishment of a 15,000 square foot Julia Morgan house and an 8,000 square foot penthouse in San Francisco, the interior renovation of a 9,000 square foot Aspen townhouse, houses in London, Connecticut and Chicago, a pied à terre in Paris, the restoration of a Grade II listed Queen Anne house in Oxfordshire, and holiday homes in the South of France, Switzerland and Mexico. Each project is designed to feel settled, personal and enduring.

The studio’s founder, Samantha Todhunter, began her career as a journalist and art director for Vogue Living Australia. After moving to the UK, she contributed to international design publications including Harper’s Bazaar, House & Garden and Elle Décor. Her trained editorial eye, expansive design knowledge and instinctive ability to balance welcoming comfort with measured elegance led her to establish her London practice in 2012.

In 2020, the studio launched The Warborough Collection, a focused capsule of upholstery and occasional furniture conceived to be classic, versatile and endlessly useful in real homes. Years in development, the collection comprises key designs that have been tried and tested across projects, refined until they became their most resolved versions. The result has a modern antique sensibility that works effortlessly across interior styles. Classic, timeless pieces that work anytime, anywhere.

The studio has also collaborated with The Rug Company, Collier Webb and Bert & May, and has been internationally recognised with accolades including House & Garden’s Top 100, the Luxe Gold List and Country & Town House’s Fifty Finest.

"It was a joy working with Samantha. Our project was a multi-year gut renovation of our family home. We brought Samantha in early to help us create a design scheme that would reflect our sensibilities and would be timeless. She quickly understood our aesthetic and what we were looking for. With an incredible attention to detail, she worked seamlessly with our architect, builders and multiple contractors. She is very creative and has an excellent eye and delivered to us a house that exceeded our expectations. We look forward to working with her on future projects."
"Beyond her creative gifts, Samantha is the consummate professional. She is organized, communicative, respectful of timelines and budgets, and consistently composed - even amid the inevitable complexities that arise in any renovation or new build. I trust her completely and I admire her deeply. I have never once felt out of the loop or uncertain about where a project stands, and that kind of clarity and reliability is invaluable. I trust her completely, I admire her deeply, and I consider myself fortunate to have found a designer of her caliber."
"Over the course of sixteen years and seven distinctly different homes, I have had the extraordinary privilege of collaborating with Samantha on some of the most meaningful and personal spaces in my life. In that time, she has proven herself to be not merely a talented designer, but a true creative partner - one whose skill, professionalism, and artistry are simply unmatched. Perhaps what I admire most is that no two of our projects have ever felt the same. Each home Samantha has touched has carried its own distinct personality - its own vibe, its own soul. She brings fresh eyes and genuine creative investment to every project, never recycling ideas or defaulting to a formula. Whether the aesthetic called for modern minimalism, warm traditionalism, or something entirely its own, Samantha has risen to the occasion with brilliance and grace every single time. Each finished space has been more beautiful than I could have imagined on my own."
